Peter Drucker said, "...learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn." Like the rapid changes in technology, students in my classroom are adapting to their world and learning new things that I have never imagined.
Students in my classroom live in a small, rural community.
Our high school is the only high school in the community, so we are tightly knit together. Students in my school come from all walks of life in terms of socioeconomic backgrounds and ethnicity. They are voracious learners who really want to know more about the world in which they live in. They learn quickly, and are always seeking more opportunities to satisfy their curious appetites.
My Project
Students will use the materials to create virtual reality tours for others. Using the 360 degree camera, students will film areas of their community and will create a virtual, 360 degree experience for others to enjoy and learn from. Virtual reality technology is growing and finding astonishing use in many areas such as the military, medical, engineering, electrical, and many other fields, and by using and becoming familiar with this technology, students have an opportunity to become avid consumers of change.
The addition of this technology in my classroom will add a component of project based learning.
By using these materials, students will become more engaged in the activity and will be producing something that can be used by others in our community as well. The materials will make a difference in the lives of my students and the lives of those in our community.
