My Project
The EAI Education Jumbo Magnetic X-Y Coordinate Grid and the books Visualizing Mathematics with 3D Printing and Math Art: Truth, Beauty, and Equations escalates hand-on opportunities in my classroom for all my students. The EAI Education Jumbo Magnetic X-Y Coordinate Grid will encourage students of all levels to communicate and deliberate with classmates in small groups over geometric concepts in graphing activities, such as shifting parabolas as equations are modified and creating a parabola to match the given equation. My students learn to enjoy and gain confidence in mathematics when they are engaged with peers' discourse, making temporary mistakes, and endeavoring different possible solutions. Visualizing Mathematics with 3D Printing and Math Art: Truth, Beauty, and Equations will bring math out of the realm of the abstract and put it into the hands of my students to create a fascination to mathematical relationships of shape. Allowing them to explore two-, three-, and four-dimensional mathematics, Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometries, symmetry, knots, and tessellations. In addition, my students will have at their finger tips how art has been inspired by the beauty and poetry of mathematical principles and geometry in motion to the possibilities of pi.
Enhancing their experience in learning geometric concepts within a 360 classroom which will increase engagement and confidence of all my students.
As a result, my students from a rural community will develop increased self-esteem, appreciation for mathematics, and critical thinking skills they will use throughout their lives.
