This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project, which started in August 2023, is to build our Eagle Students News Program. I wanted a way to create news to get students' attention and help them learn about careers in Journalism and the Media. Helping my students will alleviate the costly pressure on our school and myself to pay for equipment and resources to facilitate our students' education. I have purchased our equipment out of pocket and am seeking funding for the larger purchases.

This video camera and accessories would help elevate my student's experience filming our news videos on the phone to create high-quality professional news productions.

The cameras are our last significant need to elevate this project.

In our increasingly digital world, these cameras would empower students to learn how to become professional news anchors. The video camera helps students learn all the behind-the-scenes work of editing and creating their own original content. This would enable them to develop and publish their unique content to share with others.

My students are a fantastic group of young scholars. The early college program specifically targets traditionally underserved students in colleges and universities. My students are the first in their family to go to college. They are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are at risk of not completing high school. At such a young age, my students are learning the discipline and academic behaviors that are necessary for success in higher education. They are dedicated and hardworking!
