3-D Printer PLTW Gateway to Technology Middle School Classes
My students need a 3-D printer for their middle school level engineering classes to be able to print items they design in the CAD program.

My Students
My students are enrolled PLTW's GTT course for grade 6-8. This is a STEM course to foster middle school students in the engineering fields. The students are presently designing in a CAD program that has the ability to export their designs to a 3d printer.
Roland Park Elementary Middle is a culturally diverse school.
The students enrolled here come from varying ethnic, socio-economic back grounds. I have found that over the past two years of teaching at this school that the students have a strong desire to learn and are eager for more as they master one area.
My Project
The students will be better enabled to print projects that they design in the CAD 3-D environment. This will foster a better hands on approach to learning. The students have also expressed a high interest in printing 3-D prosthesis for donation to local hospitals for individual that may not be able to afford to purchase such a device.
This project will help the students better connect to an abstract computer program by creating a tangible product.
If the students further connect and develop the prosthetic devices they would like to donate then they have also gained they satisfaction of giving back to the community around them.
