Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Newark Memorial High School is located in the south SF Bay Area. Our student population of around 1800 student consists of a diverse multicultural background; a majority Hispanic student population, with an equal mix of Asia and Caucasian, also present are African American, as well as multi-racial students and international students . Families and students are generally socioeconomically low to middle class with 49% of students with free or reduced lunch, and we serve a broad range of English Language learners and students with disabilities.

Newark Memorial strives to educate students with technological innovation, problem solving skills and college and career readiness.

We are close to Silicon Valley and the tech industry, and many opportunities exist for a well prepared student. The Media Communications Academy provides college and Career Training in the areas of Arts, Media and Entertainment. Newark Memorial offers academy programs, a technology center, Regional Occupational Programs, Advanced Placement, STEM engineering, and student learning and leadership groups. The students at Newark Memorial embrace the diversity of cultures, experiences, and ideas on campus.

My Project

My students will use the Flash Forge Creator Pro 3-D printer as a tool for bringing innovative ideas to life. In conjunction with product development, design thinking, and fabrication a 3-D printer will be a concrete tool for developing rapid prototype of products, inventions, and artistic models.

A variety of technical and artistic skill sets will be applied in project development and production.

3-D modeling software and scanning will be used to develop 3-D models. A 3-D printer will provide a contemporary technological experience for hands-on product and hardware proficiency.

3-D printing and modeling will greatly enhance the multimedia education provided students in both design, software, and hardware. As well as provide an incentive for participation, learning, and cross curriculum collaboration by allowing hands-on projects and learning.
