My Students
My students live and breathe art. They are the type of students who look for me during lunch, hoping they can come in during their free time to work. Take work home? Without question. Work on multiple projects at once? Of course! They have passion and ambition and work tirelessly to master their craft.
This group of students inspire me to work harder for them. Many of my students start taking art in the 6th grade and I get to watch them grow and develop into very talented artists as they work their way through high school.
My Project
Students will be using these materials for a printmaking unit. Printmaking is always fun because it's an art form that stands apart from other kinds of art. We are learning about linoleum printing, specifically reduction prints. This type of print can be challenging for students because it allows them to print in more than one color and requires them to "reduce" the linoleum block after each printing. In this unit, they will learn how to properly use the cutters, how to carve out their designs on the linoleum as well as inking and printing using a variety of printing inks.
My students have a limited amount of art experience and my goal as an art teacher is to give them as many experiences in art as possible.
