Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a hard working and energetic bunch of 2nd graders in the Bronx. We are a Title I school with very diverse learners. Today's students need more attention than ever. My students vary in learning styles, academic levels, behaviors, race, and economic level. All of my students have very unique needs, and learn very differently. I am constantly searching for ways to best help each and every child.
I work in a high needs school.
Use of technology is pivotal to life skills in this day and age.
I have students with varied skills and these would help to differentiate for them. My students need to know how to utilize technology effectively, and to be able to access knowledge in an efficient way. There are so many great lessons using the internet, but impossible to implement without the technology available.
Many of my students do not have computers at home to complete asassignments.
My Project
We are working diligently to differentiate and implement technology in literacy so that each one of my students may have a laptop to work on their individualized reading and writing assignments.
Our class will use their laptops to learn how to create and publish an online storybook.
My students would even conduct research on their individual laptops. It is also exciting that my young students will learn to log in using their school emails, to create bookmarks, and completely customize their laptops. I intend to also teach them about all the benefits of using google docs, google slideshows, and more. Look out -here comes second grade computer experts!
