My students need to experience hands-on learning as we study various ecosystems and the insects that inhabit them! This field trip, which is cost-prohibitive to many of our families, will enable our students to further explore!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My elementary school is a gem of a school located in Philadelphia.
A lot of our 900 students (K-4) are children of immigrants or immigrants themselves.
Their primary language spoken at home is Spanish and most of our students live well below the poverty line.
Though my students have many economic and language hurdles to overcome, they are some of the most curious, insightful, and caring students I have ever encountered. I am amazed on a daily basis of how ingenuous they are!
My Project
Our students are excitedly studying ecosystems around the world. However, learning about foreign habitats in far off lands is hard when you're stuck in the middle of a huge city. Help take us to the Philadelphia Insectarium so we can see these interesting creatures in real life and get a better understanding of the biodiversity in the world!
Our students deserve the chance to experience science first hand!
Field trips are usually cost-prohibitive to our families and asking for students to pay means that many would be unable to go on our one field trip this year. Consider helping us so that EVERY child gets to experience this engaging, hands-on learning opportunity!
