This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from a variety of different Latin American backgrounds with all of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is also one of the poorest schools in the Metro Atlanta area. 99% of our students are English Language Learners trying to learn English and the American culture as they get acclimated to the school environment. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. Many of my students don't have the means to buy the basic school supplies needed to be successful. I want to be able to supply them with basic school supplies like scissors, glue, markers, and crayons as they start the new school year.

Being prepared at the beginning of the school year is a must if students are to be successful in school.

By having the basic school supplies on the first day of school my students will be able to "hit the ground running". I want all students to feel confident as they start their new academic year in 2nd grade!
