This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are special because despite their home life they are resilient and strive to be better. My students demonstrate leadership and practice honesty. 80% of my students are on reduced lunch and do not have a snack regularly.

We are a charter school from the Dallas area that serves many low-income and at-risk students.

My students love to read and dance. They have so much personality and their dreams are incredible. I have future astronauts, marines, doctors, chefs, teachers, and artists. Every day we learn from our mistakes and see them as growth!

My Project

My project of requesting books for my class will make a significant difference in the lives of my students as the majority are from low-income homes and can’t always provide a literacy-rich environment. My hope is to provide that in my classroom. This project will provide books for students to take home and build fluency and an enjoyment of reading. It will also allow resources in the classroom for guided reading groups. I want my students to be in control of their future and education and being a strong reader will absolutely push them forward as they move on to upper-grade level education.
