My students are amazing. They are 7 and 8 year olds who love to learn. They work hard and love to be on the move. Most of them come from single parent homes or low economic status and only want to learn and grow as students. The neighborhoods they come from range from low poverty to middle class.
I am sure you would be amazed at what my students can do with what they have been given in their home situations.
My Project
We are in a new age of learning with Math and Science and our students need to be prepared. With the growing industry of engineering and computers/technology we need the resources to advance our students in Math and Science. Without these materials (Math games, Math manipulatives, materials to practice facts and materials for quick learning with white boards) students will not be prepared for the future.
Giving my students the opportunity to work in small groups and large groups with Math games and other materials to allow them to learn and be creative will be vital in my second grade classroom.
I am hoping that my students will leave my classroom with a knowledge beyond most second graders in Math and Science.
