This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Many of my class qualifies for free or reduced rate lunch. My students are diverse learners that all need something different from school. Students in my class are given access to flexible seating, a classroom library, and a Makerspace every day in order to better their learning.
Our classroom is full of diverse, excited learners who need a wide range of resources to learn.
My goal is to create a caring classroom community where my students feel valued and a sense of belonging. My students teach me just as much as I teach them.
My Project
I'd like to have a wide variety of books for a listening library that all readers in my classroom can enjoy. Having a listening center in the classroom would be so helpful to the students who are struggling to read. Students will enjoy a variety of books and levels. Listening and following along to the books will expose them more vocabulary and make them better readers.
Students will be exposed to 2nd grade books and concepts even though they are not reading at a 2nd grade level.
Students that are struggling to read will enjoy listening to the variety of books. I will also be using the individual CD players in stations so that struggling readers can work on main idea and their summarizing skills individually.
