My Project
This project is an engaging and creative way to help 2nd-grade students explore Earth’s landforms while incorporating movement, collaboration, and fun. In our Title I classroom, many students are English language learners who thrive with hands-on, visual, and interactive learning. This project will allow students to "travel" across different landforms—such as mountains, plains, valleys, and plateaus—by kicking a soccer ball to labeled stations. At each stop, they will complete science-based activities, read about the landform, and use art to create representations using diagrams and vocabulary.
This approach encourages teamwork, as students will work in pairs or groups to complete challenges, share ideas, and discuss what they’ve learned.
The project not only fosters a love for science but also helps reinforce academic vocabulary, inquiry skills, and peer collaboration. Combining physical activity with academic learning it supports kinesthetic learners and makes science memorable and meaningful. This project enriches our science curriculum by integrating movement, language development, and creativity, giving students a deeper understanding of Earth’s landforms while building essential social and academic skills.
