Aloha! The materials and supplies that I'm requesting will greatly help my students transition into 2nd grade and also into a new grade level and classroom for me.
Teaching at a school with a high population of EL students and lower social economic status, many students are not able to completely purchase the school supplies that they need.
Our school tries to provide a basic supply, however, some other supplies are hard to come by.
Plastic folders and binder pouches will keep the students organized throughout the day and at home. Hanging file folder frames will help me keep all of my files organized as well so that I may focus on teaching my students. Tarps are for when we have outdoor assemblies and students must sit on the grass and instead they can sit on the tarp. Travel umbrellas are for when we need to travel around campus on Resource Days, especially on days when it is very rainy and our classroom is located in the portables which is very far from the main part of campus. I would also like to incorporate studying about various artists and creating artwork based on their techniques. The pouches are for the coin system I plan to use as rewards that students can earn throughout the day and redeem for prizes. The bigger pouches are for their school supplies such as markers because original boxes that they come in always break throughout the year. Lastly, the 2 games are to help students with their language opportunities such as vocabulary and building SEL skills.
Students will be able to focus on their learning without having to worry about heaving the right supplies. This will also help them to be more engaged in their learning during for reading, art, and social emotional skills!
