Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our scholars are artistically talented and tech-savvy. They live in a bustling urban setting in a community that experiences extreme poverty. Nearly 80% of our students receive free and reduced lunches. They are underserved and multi-talented. We are a diverse, public middle school in East Bay, California, with over 1,200 students. Nestled in the Bay Area, just east of Oakland, San Leandro is home to many work-class families and is becoming an industrial tech zone.
With proper tools, graphic artists, 2D and 3D designers, muralists, publishers and filmmakers in a multimedia lab desperately need technology and resources to create, publish and backup their files in the school's Digital Arts Lab, keeping up with the technological advancements in software and hardware.
Seventh and eighth graders can choose digital arts as their elective and work in the graphic/digital arts lab, where they learn multimedia graphic art techniques as well as how to digitally enhance their artwork. They apply the elements of art to technology to design and publish artwork as graphic designers, videographers, muralists, desktop publishers, book-makers, web designers and visual artists.
My Project
In a Digital Arts lab, our students desperately need a powerful computer in order to handle thousands of files, to run advanced design software, to operate our 3D printer for engineering projects, to build websites, to design our yearbook, and to create newscast and presentational videos for our student body and parents.
A MacBook Pro combined with Adobe software is pure magic for student innovators who wish to: print, scan, present, publish, design, manage, record, code, build and export.
Please help my students process, manage and store thousands of images and files. We need a machine to build websites, create 2D and 3D art projects, create multimedia presentations with video and sound, access our scanner, printer and projector, design our school yearbook, featuring desktop publishing, photography and artwork.
