This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a teacher of a class of 25 curious, bright and talented second grade students. There is such an amazing chemistry in my classroom this year. My children work so beautifully together and are so incredibly eager to learn. It's a true privilege to be their teacher.
I work in an extremely impoverished area.
My children have little to nothing to call their own. My students have already faced so many obstacles in their young lives, and yet they always forge ahead with a smile. My school is a barrier-free school. This means that my school opens its doors to all children, regardless of their physical or emotional handicap. Children in wheelchairs learn, work and flourish right alongside their peers. It's a truly amazing experience to be a part of.
My Project
We are requesting an HP 2 in 1 laptop. If I had a laptop in my classroom, I would be able to give all of my children the ability to work with a computer. Being that the laptop is portable, each child can sit at their desk with it in order to become acclimated with it. Each child can learn how to operate a laptop, properly use the Internet for research, or just play fun educational games on it. Every year, my students engage in a reading and writing unit on biographies. I have several biographical books that I have collected over the years, but my students often don't connect with the person that they're learning about and quickly lose interest and motivation. I recently read a biography that I printed out about LeBron James to the class. My students were completely enraptured! I want to see this every day! I would love to afford my students the opportunity to research a person that they want to learn about while they are in school.
With your support, my students will have an invaluable tool in the classroom that will be used for many years to come.
They will gain vital knowledge of how to navigate and use a computer at an early age. This will brighten their future and put them ahead in life. I, as well as my students, would be incredibly grateful to receive this 2 in 1 laptop.
