Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Empowering every student with the essential resources for thriving in middle school is important. Being a Title I middle school serving a vibrant, diverse student population, providing readily accessible resources like nutritious snacks, discreet fidget tools, and basic school supplies is paramount to fostering an equitable and supportive learning environment.
For many of our students, daily access to food, school supplies, and self regulation aids may be inconsistent.
Offering a variety of grab-and-go snacks, such as granola bars, applesauce pouches, or fruit snacks, directly addresses food insecurity, ensuring no student's learning is hindered by hunger.
Furthermore, middle school can be a period of heightened emotional and academic stress. Fidgets, like soft stress balls, tactile rings, or quiet textured items, provide a healthy and discreet outlet for excess energy or anxiety. These tools can significantly aid in self-regulation, helping students manage their emotions, improve focus during lessons, and reduce disruptive behaviors.
Finally, ensuring all students have access to fundamental office supplies, from pencils and paper to notebooks and folders, removes a significant barrier to learning. In diverse economic backgrounds, the simple lack of these items can create feelings of embarrassment or inadequacy, impacting a student's confidence and participation. By providing these essentials, we ensure every student arrives prepared to learn, participate in group projects, and complete assignments, leveling the playing field and empowering them to fully access their education.
