21st Learning in Our Room

Help me give my students every possible option to have rich learning experiences to engage them. Our district has purchased wonderful programs to address the issue, however our school does not have Chromebooks to allow all students access.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the educational facilitator of fantabulous fifth graders! We are part of the Success Bound Academy at the D. A. E. Elementary School. The SBA, is a substantially separate, special education program for students that have Emotional Impairments. These 5th graders are a dynamic group of students that are trying persevere through their emotional impairments, to reach their grade level expectations and make gains to close achievement gaps.

I had the pleasure of teaching reading and writing to this group as 4th graders, and as we continue our work together, there are materials needed that are vital to closing their achievement gaps.

My Project

The Chromebooks and headphones will allow me to maximize my guided reading and literacy center block by allowing all students to access research based instruction, designed to meet the individual needs of each student.

Unfortunately, we only have access to a few Chromebooks a couple days per week, which is not enough practice time per week needed to strengthen skills where students are deficient.

We are hoping to receive this donation of Chromebooks and headphones so that we can have an in class set to use during our literacy centers and intervention blocks. This will allow us to access the wonderful curriculum that has been purchased by the district.
