Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the best students! They are a wonderful group of second graders with such a thirst for knowledge. They come from a very poverty-stricken area in a city. It's very difficult for my students to keep up with the high demands of school, and they often fall behind throughout their school years. Many of my children are coming into second grade performing below grade level. My goal is to help my students to be prepared so they can be successful learners!
My Project
Writing is one of the most difficult subjects to teach my students because they get very frustrated when they have to edit and revise their writing. They want to write their story and be done with it. It's such a chore to get them excited about making changes to make it their best writing. We now have the opportunity for them to type their writing while in the classroom and my students are very enthusiastic about it.
My second graders have been reinvigorated when it comes to writing because they now have the option to type their good copy and add clip art when they are done.
Writing has become the favorite subject of some of my most reluctant students because they love seeing their writing typed up and printed. We need black ink and color ink so I can continue to print and make copies of their typed good copies. They love being able to bring a copy home to show their families.
