Our students are third graders and are so wanting to learn! They are eager each day for reading, writing, math and science in my classroom. My students are eight and nine year old boys and girls who may or may not have a computer or other technology tool at home. They may or may not be getting assistance with math HW at night. This is why the hands-on materials, technology tools, and flexible seating choices are so beneficial to them. My students attend a public school in Rhode Island and care about their learning!
My third graders are so eager to learn and engage in meaningful lessons and classroom workshops while using 21st century materials, including technology tools such as iPads.
I want to expose my students to a community classroom environment which will allow students to work together collaboratively and get ready for their adult world and beyond. Not all students have access to iPads and computers at home, so allowing them to have access during the day would be amazing.
My Project
These materials of tablets and headphones will change the lives of my students for the better by allowing them to 'be with the times' and use some current technology to help them learn. I've done research and am fully aware of blended learning and know the tablets have capabilities that are amazing to incorporate technology in my class on a daily basis. There have been many suggested uses by special education resources and other teachers who use tablets daily. By getting these tablets and headphones, many of my students who would not have access to such helpful tools, will have a chance to share and practice math and reading during the day. My students will share the tablets and take care of these special pieces of technology, while still practicing math facts with games, learning tips and tricks through apps. In addition, they will use the headphones and listen to stories on reading a-z and hear model fluency of reading to better help them as readers.
