My Students

My school is located in the inner city of Paterson, NJ. The neighborhood is surrounded by gang violence, drugs, and poor living conditions. This life is a vast reality for many of the students who enter our doors. As the school counselor my main goal is to address the social and emotional needs of each student. Many of the students endure levels of stress that most adults could not fathom. My goal is to provide a safe place for them to deal with their issues and provide adequate support for them and their families. I would like to build a safe environment for my students in my room, where there are enough resources to continue education

My Project

If this project is funded, it will give my students the opportunity to have tools they need to compete at the college level. My goal is to have a few laptops for my students to continue classwork in my office while receiving counseling services. With the hardship in my district, there are many times I see students repetitively and need tools to be successful in their academic duties.

These resources will make it possible for students to feel safe in my class and be able to have resources to use different tools online.

They can use the printer for classwork, fun and interactive applications used by teachers, and online resources.
