My Students

My students are middle school students, age eleven to fourteen. They dedicate themselves before the school day, during the school day, and even on weekends to our school music program. I conduct five different ensembles in the school, including concert band, jazz band, and marching band. We participate in two annual music competitions; one statewide and one northeast regional. The computer that our students have access to is out of date and in need of replacement. The students are asking for a new computer, but our budget just cannot afford it right now. I have researched the best computer tower to replace the one that is currently in use.

My Project

My students are asking for one new Dell desktop tower to replace the one that they currently use in the classroom. Students are able to print assignments, complete projects, print sheet music, complete Smart Music assignments, and do class research, at the assigned computer. Lately students have been complaining that it is much too slow and that there have been viruses active on the computer. Even after repairing and removing the viruses, the computer isn't the same. So many pieces of software are outdated and do not receive updates any longer. This computer is provided to my students for success during their school day and I wish I was able to purchase an entirely new computer with all the newest bells and whistles, but we just cannot afford it this year.
