This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in high poverty and high crime neighborhood in rural community. I offer to my students an after school science club program. Staying at school an additional 2.5 hours day, 4 days a week. They are determined to grow, change and make a difference in this world.

My 21st Century student scientists want to explore and learn about aquaponics.

We need AquaSprouts Garden to bring the revolutionary principles of aquaponic farming into the classroom, because we believe aquaponics offers many STEM learning opportunities. By combining fishkeeping and hydroponic gardening, aquaponics can teach students Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Zoology, Ecology, Agriculture, Botany, Math and Business skills. Students can benefit from understanding how our natural environment works in a hands-on way. Hence, it is not only ideal for growing fresh herbs and vegetables, but also for teaching and learning.

This year my Science Club students want to study how animals can help and assist people. They are interested in learning about how fish can help farmers produce vegetables in more green environmental friendly way testing their ideas using technology.

My Project

My elementary student scientist want to make a difference by learning and studying how animals and plants and technology can work together in an environmental green friendly way.

I know that education and hands-on experiments are the keys to success for integrating new technology and creating thinkers and makers for the 21st Century.

My students will learn that aquaponics with the use of technology could be the cornerstone of future food systems, reducing waste and enabling people everywhere to produce clean, healthy food for themselves and their communities. Students could teach their families how to grow their own food using an everyday fish tank and little innovation.

This Science Project, will be using TECHNOLOGY to Study CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY, BOTANY, PHYSICS, ZOOLOGY, and ECOLOGY. Aquaponics and Technology combined can give STUDENTS the OPPORTUNITY to be INNOVATIVE THINKERS and MAKERS. My students need AquaSprouts Garden, technology including: digital pH monitor, digital temperature monitor, aquarium kit and aquarium accessories, vegetable seeds, grow lights and water test strips to help them collect data and learn about aquaponics. Students will develop new skills needed for 21st Century future employment. These skills include: Hands-On Real Life Application of SCIENCE & MATH SKILLS, Writing and Communication skills, and Teamwork and Leadership opportunities. The materials donated will be long lasting investment and will be used for many years.
