21st-Century Students Need an iPad (Part 2)

My students need an iPad to help develop their STEM skills.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a small Title I neighborhood school tucked between tree lined streets, just blocks from the freeway and busy city intersections. 85% or more of my students receive free or reduced price lunch. My class includes English Language Learners, Gifted and Talented students, and Special Needs students. They are energetic and curious! They come to school with a variety of experiences and benefit from hands-on learning where they can engage in the 4 C's of 21st Century Learning; Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration and Creativity.

"The best way of learning about anything is by doing."

My Project

I am requesting an iPad and protective cover for my Second Grade students. The iPad will make a HUGE difference in my students' learning! Students will have the opportunity to use the iPad independently, with partners, and in small group instruction. Since the iPad will be housed in our classroom, students can use it throughout the day! This iPad will help develop students' STEM skills. It will support students' technology skills as they code, practice their math skills, conduct research, and search for the answers to their questions. Students will also learn how to use the iPad to document their learning by creating digital portfolios that they can share with their family and friends. Also, as students conduct their research, not only will they learn how to navigate the websites, I want them to learn how to understand and use the information that is available. By donating to this project, you will give my current and future students a chance to be active participants in our multimedia world.

“Learners in the internet age need to know how to efficiently use the massive amount of information available at their fingertips—to determine what’s credible, what’s relevant, and when it's useful to reference."
