My Students

Our elementary School was founded in 1900 and is located adjacent to the University of Arkansas. We currently benefit from many partnerships with the University and also have many students whose parents attend or work at the university.

My students are an ethnically diverse population of students from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, and many have exercised their school of choice option to transfer taking advantage of the diverse culture and learning opportunities we offer.

Many of the students in my classroom are lacking real-word experiences and do not have backgrounds that will set them up for citizenship in the 21st century.

My Project

These headphones will allow students to access iPad apps that provide them with personalized learning opportunities. Students can select from a variety of adaptive learning apps in both math and reading, as well as submit and respond to activities verbally and with writing in their digital portfolio.

Providing my first graders with the opportunities to create and access a digital portfolio will prepare them for the future where technical skills will be necessary to submit and respond to educational and employment activities.

Many students do not have digital capabilities at home and can only access these skills in the educational environment.
