21st Century Problem Solving With Dash, Dot, and Ozobot

My students need to learn to be problem solvers. Dash, Dot, and Ozobot robots will help with this process.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I always look to provide my students with creative learning experiences.

98% of our students at our school are receiving free or reduced price lunch based on their household income and many of them are living in single parent homes.

These are two risk factors these students have already when they enter the school. In our school we know the statics for these students and think of ways to help overcome the challenges they face daily.

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day.

My Project

My hopes are they will use Dash, Dot, and Ozobot to learn how to create and work together to complete basic technological projects. 21st century learning skills need to be taught and practiced. These skills include communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving. In a school setting, Ozobots would also allow my students to play, create, code, and connect while learning.

My students will develop an understanding for solving problems as well as basic coding, but most importantly they will be having FUN!

Using robotics in the classroom, I hope to encourage my students to enjoy learning science, math, and become critical thinkers.

Hopefully, using these robots will inspire them to dig further into science and technology.
