This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'm a first-year teacher and so excited to get started. I will be teaching 4th grade in Charleston, SC. This is a Title I school in an urban community. Because we are a Title I school, my students come from a low-income population and they thrive when they have proper materials. My students may not always have materials at home to help them learn and complete assignments.
I love seeing my students laughing, smiling, and having fun as they experience unique and creative ways of learning Language Arts.
My Project
If there is anything that the last school year taught me, it's the importance that technology now plays in the classroom. We are going from a type of learning where everything was done on paper and pencil, to now a type of learning where everything is done through technology. While using technology in the classroom last year, something that I learned is that because I teach 4th graders, they haven't yet mastered the keyboard and at times would prefer writing on their laptops. While my students enjoyed writing on their laptops, they unfortunately didn't have styluses so it was hard at times for them to read their handwriting because they had to use their hands. By having styluses for my students, it allows them to highlight, draw, and write on any documents, homework, or tests given to them through their devices.
