The new shelving keeps our books easy to see and reach, helping students take ownership of their reading choices and encouraging a love of books from an early age. It also helps keep our classroom tidy and accessible, which is so important for young learners.\r\n\r\nThe cozy rug and calm-down light have transformed our reading center into a warm, peaceful corner where students can relax and focus. These books have helped my students build the fine motor control and letter formation skills that are essential for both early writing and reading readiness. Each lesson introduces proper pencil grip, letter strokes, and spacing—skills that give children confidence as they begin writing their names, labeling their artwork, and recognizing letters in print.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, \"reading\" and \"writing\" often go hand-in-hand. We use our handwriting books during small group time, where students practice tracing and forming letters while also saying the sounds each letter makes. This connection between print and sound helps them become stronger readers and writers at the same time.\r\n\r\nThese workbooks have helped grow their confidence as they learn to write and master their letters. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping us create these moments of success and joy in learning. This compelling book has engaged our students deeply, encouraging them to think critically about history, justice, and the power of individual voices.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the books, they were thrilled to have their own copies! . Having physical books in hand allowed us to have richer discussions, as students could easily reference specific passages and connect their thoughts with evidence from the text.\r\n\r\nThe novel has sparked important conversations about immigration, labor rights, and courage in the face of adversity. One specific moment that stood out was a class debate where students took on the roles of characters and argued their perspectives. Their insights and empathy were inspiring—and much of that came from their ability to fully immerse themselves in the story, thanks to your support.\r\n\r\nAs we wrap up this unit, our next steps include writing personal reflections, creating character diaries, and even working on a short play adaptation. The materials provided through this grant have helped my students create some incredible multimedia projects that they are so proud of. The materials helped take the students' skills and techniques to the next level, whether it allowed them to be more hands-on with certain parts or made working with certain tools more comfortable for them. \r\n\r\nWith 4K and Kindergarten, we made outer space rocket ship collages. I believe the planets they created really took this project to the next level and made the work look more realistic! They were able to be more independent with this part because of the circle hole puncher we received. I pre-cut the circles for them quickly and easily so they could focus their efforts and energy on adding shading and texture to their planets. We read the book Hidden Figures throughout the week and tied this project into Black History Month. I loved discussing real world job opportunities with them, such as becoming a \"computer\" or engineer for NASA. \r\n\r\nFor my 5th grade students, we received some pairs of large scissors that fit their hands much more comfortably than the little ones that some of them were having to use before. The high-quality scissors helped them to accurately and precisely cut the circles out to create realistic planets.
