21st Century Learning in Virtual Reality

My Students

Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and ability levels. They are all looking for a safe, nurturing learning environment. The children I teach are ready to meet the challenges of rigorous content and master the developmentally appropriate skills in curriculum. I want to inspire them.

We are a STEM focus school and many of my students have a passion for engineering and science, but it is vital to provide materials and activities that will motivate and prepare them for STEM careers.

My Project

I would like to take students on over 500 virtual reality field trips without leaving the classroom. This kit is custom-built for Google Expeditions and Works with Google Cardboard devices that are out-of-the-box ready.

Help me help my students explore new places and ideas easier while maximizing innovative instructional opportunities through virtual reality technology.

The VR headsets kits will give my students the ability to put learning into context by going on 360 degree panoramic field trips that immerse them into expeditions. Through exploratory trips under water, up mountains, through times in history, they will gain understanding built on authentic experiences.

The headsets will be used during small groups and independent learning to layer their understanding. This technology opens the world to my students and connects directly to the standards they must learn.

After their experiences, they will respond to the learning by documenting on digital tablets.
