We are a visual and performing arts public charter school. My students have many amazing opportunities in the arts, but our school has had to sacrifice technology to provide that. We really need current technology to meet our student's academic needs and turn them into 21st century learners.
My 27 second graders are a wonderful group of children who have a thirst for knowledge.
We are a public charter school that focuses on performing and visual arts. We accept a variety of students and the program is free, though parent involvement hours are required. Our school is a great place where kids can be themselves and be accepted for who they are. Our students are also required to perform community service so they really learn to care about other people and our community.
My Project
We need three iPads to practice important math and language arts skills while learning 21st century skills! iPads offer an amazing amount of academic opportunities for students. There are a variety of apps that allow students to practice math and language arts skills to ensure proficiency. While they are practicing these academic skills, they are also learning important 21st century skills. The best thing is the engagement of the students. Instead of forcing them to learn skills, they can't wait for their turn.
iPads will even allow students to create projects that meet the newly adopted Common Core Standards.
iPads have become an important and necessary learning tool in the classroom. These iPad minis can teach and provide practice for my students while helping them become 21st century learners.
