My students need an iphone where apps can be used for communication with parents and school, music for activities, a timer, field trips and at sports events.
As the years keep moving so does technology. Everything changes from using a blackboard to ipads to iphones. We now have white boards, apps for communication, apps for activities and phones that allow us to have everything right at our fingertips. There is always a need for a portable device.
Our class is full of activities and learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
We are a title one school with small class sizes. Our school is surrounded by beautiful apple fields and rolling country hills. Each day something happens in school where access to a portable phone would be useful to the students. The students like to be independent and are excited when new technology is brought into the room. Real life activities and lessons are needed in the classroom along with the other learning that takes place. These students are expected to be 21st century learners, so let's provide them with 21st century tools.
My Project
This iphone would allow students to listen to music, take pictures during activities to share in our monthly newsletter, download apps for learning, books for reading, use of a stop watch at their finger tips, internet access for quick research or definitions right at their desk or in a small group. This phone could also be used one on one with students at their desk with a timer, to use a learning app or story to listen to.
We only have one computer in our classroom for student and teacher use. While the computer is being used for one learning activity, the students would have access to the phone to look information up on the internet, right at their fingertips. The students would be able to share ways the phone can help in their learning or what apps would be helpful which is part of classroom evaluations. Having access to this phone would allow students learning opportunities no matter where they are in the school and also allow them many opportunities in the classroom with learning.
This project will improve our classroom by allowing the students a chance to use real world technology and make use of all it has to offer.
This phone will be a daily piece of equipment available for use by the students. For many of the students in our special needs classes they are learning life skills. Learning how to use this phone and the responsibilities that come with it are life skills. Help students gain the knowledge and experience they need to be successful in our 21st century learning classroom.
