My Students

Do you remember what it feels like to just sit and be lectured to? My students do not have access to an iPad in the classroom. Without access to this tool, my students cannot engage in educational applications or conduct research in small groups.

My students are a group of highly motivated and curious 21st century learners.

Many of my students lack 21st century technology tools in their homes. Our school is dedicated to providing the best education possible. We are a close-knit school with teachers, parents and community working together to provide the best for our students. Unfortunately, due to the economic situation in the area we live in and lack of state funding, it is extremely challenging to provide adequate materials. We are left without an iPad to use for small group learning circles.

My Project

By having access to an iPad in the classroom, students will be able to collaborate and work together on projects in a small group setting while I am teaching other small groups in the classroom. In this small group, students will have access to educational applications, libraries and research engines. Students will be able to use applications to improve reading skills or use speech-to-text applications to encourage writing. Students will be able to explore the visual arts and create video presentations to exhibit their work. There are many scientific and mathematical applications that will allow students to learn content together in a small group setting.

An iPad interactive learning center will make a significant difference in the lives of my students.

It will allow them an opportunity to access material and learn content specified by the State Core. Students will learn to access a world of knowledge that may otherwise be unavailable to them in their homes. They will have a chance to implement, create and share presentations with their peers. These skills will not just stay with my students in elementary, but will carry with them into adulthood.
