My students need to be able to communicate and share files with me in real time through their District-provided iPads. We need a MacBook and a case to be productive!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hard working middle schoolers that are excited about learning and experience new things. Our ability levels range from highly gifted to struggling readers, but they love to apply their knowledge to real world experiences!
My students attend a neighborhood public school that qualifies for title-1 funding and they have been trying to stay motivated throughout the school year.
My students are special education students that have a peer mentor assigned to them. My students are perseverant and motivated!
My Project
My students will be able to quickly share files and create high quality presentations when we are equipped with a device that is compatible with the apple iOS. My students are using Apple devices every day to achieve a 21st century education within our California Gold Ribbon Award-Winning school. However, the iPads are not suitable for all modern classroom activities.
Our Macbook will be used by students to edit videos, type lengthy essays, and create Keynote presentations.
In our history class, we are constantly creating presentations and collaborating. Students will finally be able to send Pages, Keynotes, Numbers files to me with ease. Students can work with the Macbook to create iMovies and enhance their expression.
My students have disabilities, and a simplified technological-based education will push their capabilities to meet their true potential. Currently, I struggle with the collection of assignments because I use a district-assigned Windows computer that is not compatible with my students' Apple iPads. I would be able to easily grade assignments and provide detailed feedback because we would be using the same iOS. Our quality of work will increase with a shared device that has iMovie and Keynote. Each child will save time and frustration within my classroom. I will be able to focus on collecting progress data and building a stronger group of 21st Century learners. Teaching in 2017 requires project-based learning and collaboration among students and teachers.
