My students need a Mac laptop, external hard drive to store classwork and projects, and a flash drive to transfer data to a printer to print essays.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The 21st century classroom needs an updated computer! My fifth graders use technology daily, and they want to create things, make short videos, word process, do research online, and complete assignments using computers and a flash drive to print. Due to budget cuts, this is not possible.
A diverse group of gifted, below basic, and mainstreamed special education students in my classroom calls for major planning for differentiation!
Learning stations seem to be the key to target their special needs so they can be grouped according to their Lexile levels for reading and number sense aptitude for math.
Though we have a school computer lab we visit once a week for 30 minutes, many of my students are not exposed to technology at home; I believe that a class Mac laptop will open a whole new world for them. With a hard drive, I will be able to store their short movies and PowerPoint presentations. With a flash drive, they will be able to transfer their data to a printer so that it can be printed.
My students get so excited every time I purchase a few inexpensive books for our classroom library that they race to be the first to read them; imagine their thrill when I present them with brand new Mac laptop, hard drive to store data, and a flash drive to transfer their hard work to be printed.
My Project
All small groups will have the opportunity to use the Mac throughout the day. Students will use the Mac for leveled reading practice, reading for pleasure, research and reference, solving leveled mystery stories, solving puzzles and math riddles, reinforcing basic math facts, playing critical thinking games, and so much more! We will use the hard drive to store all PowerPoint presentations, word documents, and short movies that students will create on and edit their new Mac using I-movie. The students will use the flash drive to seamlessly transfer student created documents and PowerPoint presentations to a printer in our computer lab. We could also use the flash drive to transfer short movies that students have created to school assemblies to share current projects.
Your donation will greatly enhance my students' educational success.
With the addition of this Mac laptop, my students will be able to not only word process and create PowerPoint presentations, they will be able to learn how to edit short movies. With the hard drive, students will learn to store their creative ideas and projects. Students will use the flash drive to transfer this valuable data to the computer lab to print their work. I want to empower my students and show them that technology is amazing!
