My Students

My school consists of many lower-income learners. It is culturally and academically diverse. It is a magnet school for gifted students. Our grade level has two general education classes and one Accelerated Learning Class.

I want to elevate art and increase hand-eye coordination to a whole new level by mixing it with technology.

I can’t wait to see my students ‘paint’ on computers. In all honesty, I’m excited to learn with them. Together, we will create and print endless masterpieces!

My Project

I am in the process of earning my Arts Endorsement. I am completely amazed by how art engages learning and enhances understanding. I recently completed a unit where I taught students about the three rock types using paints. They absolutely loved painting! One student said that it was her first time using paints. I know that students LOVE painting.

I loved watching my students and listening to their conversations about painting and rocks!

Two things that posed challenges were the amount of time it took and the mess of the paints. Recently, I went to an art gallery and was exposed to digital painting. It was so much fun. All I could think was, "MY STUDENTS WOULD LOVE THIS!!!"

Digital paint tablets would have numerous benefits in the class. It would be a novel way for students to express creativity. It would increase hand-eye coordination. And, it would be so much fun! I could learn alongside my students.
