This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Each year, my students come to our room enthusiastic to learn! Having the basic school supplies makes a big difference for many students. The economy has added stress for many families. Some might not be able to buy school supplies.

My students deserve to start school with the supplies they need to succeed!

Just having their own box of supplies on the first day makes a huge difference. We will use the supplies for all areas of our curriculum. Four-year-old children love to write, draw, color, paint, cut, and paste. They explore and learn using the different school supplies. When we do art projects, we can use the glue to assemble our art. Some worksheets we do require them to cut and paste their work. They can color and draw with crayons, markers, and colored pencils throughout the day. It helps them learn the names of the colors and work on fine motor skills. Crayons, markers, and colored pencils allow children to be creative. The skin colored pencils will allow them to draw and color people of all different skin tones.

The watercolor paints will be used to create masterpieces of art. The large ink pads are for creating art using their fingerprints or hands. They are also helpful for literacy. They can use alphabet stampers to make their name and other things as they learn about letters.

Remember your first day of school, proudly arriving with your supplies? I want my students to have that! They should all be able to come to school and have the materials they need on the first day!
