My Project

I am requesting some basic supplies for my 5th grade students for next school year. As I do every year, I reflect on ways to improve my teaching and to improve my students' learning. This year was no different. I have identified some areas of need in terms of student organization, so I'd like to purchase the binders and pocket folders to help us do that. The vocabulary notebooks will be a new addition for me this year as I've tried many strategies to incorporate vocabulary and still feel as if I need to be more intentional.

This coming year, I want my students to create their own math vocabulary notebooks that they can continue to add to and use throughout the year.

Teaching in a school that is nearly 50% English language learners, I am hopeful that these vocabulary books will not only help my ELL kiddos learn the academic language used in math, but I am hopeful it will improve all of my students' academic vocabulary.
