This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello

I am the ASB Bookkeeper at my school site and serve close to 850 students.

Even though we are located in a low socioeconomic area, our incredible staff strives to provided the best educational experience by our active involvement. Many of our students face many daily challenges, as many come from foster homes or might be experiencing homelessness. However, they always come to school with dazzling smiles, ready to have fun learning!

Our school focuses on PBIS, where students are encouraged to make good choices with positive rewards. We give out "Bulldog Bucks" to students who are exemplifying respectful, responsible and safe behaviors. This incentive program has allowed our students to be recognized and rewarded for their positive choices made on campus. They love earning this currency to spend in the school store. Inventory is very limited as we depend on donations to stock our store.

With such a high demographic of foster students, I try to make things like our incentive program extra exciting for our students. I have a lot of school supplies for low prices so the students that have a difficult time obtaining these resources can rely on getting them from our Bulldog Student Store.

Binders, markers, and pencils are high on the list. Being in a low socioeconomic environment can stir anxious feelings and I want to provide a variety of fidget items. In addition, Marvel comics items, stickers, bracelets are in high demand. I know students will work hard to earn bucks and save up for the big ticket items.

Your help will have a tremendous impact on our school community. Having all of these things for our store, will encourage students to make wise choices; promoting a leadership mentality! Thank you for your help and consideration.
