2020 Vball Success

Help me give my students get new Wilson volleyballs. This will allow more students to participate during drills instead of just watching. They also need carts, equipment bags, etc.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our high school is a selective enrollment math and science academy located in West Englewood. My students commute from all over the south side to come here.

With the financial status looming in public education, I want to ensure my students know that they are a priority.

My students are sixty-nine percent African American, twenty-six percent Hispanic, and most qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. They are hardworking and determined to reach their goals. They challenge themselves, and they like to be challenged in every way possible.

My Project

The materials I am requesting are a big need for our program. Wear and tear of volleyball and carts occur every year. The need for new volleyballs will help ensure that all students will be able to partner up and practice skills and make progressions instead of waiting for their turn. The blocking pads will help with teaching the skill and approach to push students out of their comfort zone. The ball bag will help with the travel aspect of the equipment to ensure they are all in one place and easy to transport.

The donations for this project will help enhance our program in a number of ways.

Volleyball tends to be a very popular sport in our school, and we are trying to reach more of them by covering all the grades 7-12. Some classes are going on during the same class period, and this will help ensure all classes will have the equipment to ensure our students' success.
