This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I'm the librarian of a Title I high school in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. Our student population consists of tenth, eleventh, and twelfth-grade students. All of our student body receives free lunch. Many are reluctant readers who read more than two levels below grade level. However, despite the obstacles they face, our students are curious and motivated to learn. They just need more tools to encourage them to do so. They are incredibly creative and talented kids who are determined to make their mark in the world.
My Project
Our seniors have worked hard for the past 13 years and we would like to give them a memento to take with them as they graduate and go out into the world. The clear plastic tumblers will be decorated with vinyl and will be presented to the students during their senior luncheon during graduation week. We look forward to creating a personalized gift for each of our students and know that they will each appreciate their gift. Thank you in advance for helping us to present a small token for our seniors to celebrate their time in high school. The senior gifts are purely an out-of-pocket expense for the teachers, so we appreciate any assistance!
