Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids. They come from low-income households and many are learning a new language.

Many of my students don't have the ability to learn online.

Although there are many great websites and online tools, these are not accessible to most of my students as most do not have a computer or internet. Many depend on worksheet packets and whatever books they have at home. Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners.

My Project

I never imagined that this is how the school would look! However, students are doing their best to overcome this new challenge. I plan to have virtual book clubs with my students to read this year's Sunshine State Young Readers Award Books.

As most of my students do not have many books at home this is a great way to provide valuable resources.

These books are a variety of levels and topics so everyone will have a book to enjoy. Hopefully, we will return back to school and compete in the countywide Battle of the Books next spring!
