Regenerate and invigorate a diverse population in need! We lack many supplies. As a math teacher, I know that the ratio of students to calculators need to be as small as can be! Any prizes to stimulate students, even inspirational pencils, can show the students that we care about their futures!
My school consists of a huge diversity of students in an urban neighborhood.
There will probably be approximately 6% Asians, a significant African-American and Hispanic population, and some Caucasians. Exact numbers are unknown as student applicants are still being processed. Most of the students tend to stay in their own racial groups, but there are a few here and there that meld well with others outside their own race. The students will be entering a renovated charter school that used to be two separate schools in one building. The two previous schools were separated only by walls on each floor of the building.
My school is a new school being created by combining two schools separated by a wall. The wall was knocked down in late June or July 2011. We are in the process of a myriad of infrastructure changes. Even as a teacher, I am unaware of many of the changes happening and how things were before. Many of the teachers from before took most of their materials from the school as far as I can see. The classrooms are pretty bare for the most part. My main concern is to start the students and the school off with as many extra supplies as possible.
My school needs a fresh start in gathering any useful materials possible.
With a supply of extra calculators, I am less likely to worry about necessary supplies for standardized exams. These exams help determine the school's funding and supports. Anything you can do to help my school, the students, and my teaching succeed is acknowledged with utmost gratitude.
