This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Twenty-six smiling and excited first graders light up our classroom each day! My students bring incredible energy, excitement, and love each day. My students come from a diverse community and each child has a unique story. My large elementary school of over 800 students is a Title l school where most students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Even the smallest child can lead such a big life at home. I want my classroom to be a safe and motivating environment that will foster curiosity, problem-solving and drive. This will lead to true grit. My students are a teacher's heart and they are my heart!

My Project

The one thing I have always struggled with in all my years of teaching is keeping young learners’ name tags and alphabet lines on their desk without eventually tearing or coming apart and getting dirty. I have tried tape, laminating, different size name tags and different placements, but eventually the name tags rip or get very dirty from the eraser shavings. These stands will allow my students to have the information they still need in front of them without the mess. It also allows them a place to find their pencil quickly and the ability to change seats throughout the year.
