My Project

Hi there! I teach a group of bright, curious, and energetic first grade gifted students in Chicago, and I’m always looking for ways to keep our classroom engaging and full of meaningful learning experiences. Every item in this project was chosen with my students in mind and will play a role in helping us learn, grow, and stay organized throughout the school year.

For example, the whiteboard clipboards, EXPO markers, and mini whiteboards will let my students practice skills in a hands-on way during our lessons, whether it’s solving math problems, writing words, or playing review games.

They love using these kinds of tools, and it makes learning feel more like play.

The headphones will be used during our centers and online programs, giving kids a chance to focus without distractions. I’m also asking for composition notebooks and mini journals so students can reflect, write stories, and record their thinking in ways that match their personalities and interests.

Classroom basics like pencils, laminating pouches, and a heavy duty pencil sharpener are items we go through quickly, and they’re things that help keep our classroom running smoothly. Having the ability to laminate charts or game pieces makes a big difference in creating materials that last all year.

Some larger items, like the teaching easel and standing desk, will support the way I teach. I’m often moving between whole group, small groups, and one on one instruction, so having furniture that adjusts with me is incredibly helpful. The anchor charts and bulletin board paper will help me create visual references and classroom displays that support our learning and keep the space feeling fresh and inviting. Clorox wipes are just one small way I try to keep our classroom clean and safe for everyone.
