Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher that works in our after-school program, I have the great privilege of interacting with many different students that are participating in a variety of different sports and clubs. Our student-athletes come to school excited about representing the school and wearing the school's uniform as they compete. They have patience and commitment as nearly every competitive team we have started as an extra-curricular intramural activity. Our students love to compete and participate in any activity they can.
I teach at a Title I School in Nevada in which a high percentage of my students come from bilingual homes and receive free lunch.
My students often face tough obstacles in their lives but arrive at school smiling and ready to learn. They love their teachers and they adore their principal. Our school truly is a community – a family. We each do our part, as student and teacher work side by side with one mission in mind: our students’ success. We set high expectations and provide guidance to students so they can achieve their dreams.
My Project
My student-athletes are in need of footballs to prepare to play in their upcoming football season. We are thrilled to be offering competitive football to students who have never played before. We are starting with the fundamentals and we need these footballs to begin that journey with these young student-athletes. These footballs will be used daily during practices and scrimmages as the student-athletes prepare to represent our school on the field.
These footballs will improve my student-athletes' ability to play, better prepare them for their games, and lead to better performances in competition.
We strive to give our students the best chance for success. We want them to succeed with their football goals and more adequately preparing them to play is a crucial part of that process. These footballs will benefit over 100 students spread across our football program. I am confident that our game performance will improve dramatically if we can have this new equipment to play with. This is the project that will make that happen.
