As a first year teacher, I am determined to foster a strong classroom community for my students. I believe that the foundation of a strong classroom community is centered on hard work and kindness, which are the two key elements I want to focus on in my first year in my own self-contained 4th-grade classroom.
I am excited to build community through morning meetings, social-emotional learning, the emphasis of students various funds of knowledge, and much more.
I am looking forward to starting my journey as a first-year teacher!
My Project
As I come to the end of my first year of teaching, there are specific materials that I have found that I need in order to better support my students. I am thankful to have learned so much in my first year teaching, and as I move forward into my second year, I hope to include more materials to support students academic and social-emotional growth and development.
I found huge success with the Book Club model of reading instruction within my first year; therefore, I am hoping to further reinforce Book Clubs with new historical fiction novels.
Additionally, I am hoping to add more instructional materials for my students to participate in more art projects. I will also be implementing a reading nook that will act as a safe space and strong instructional tool in my classroom.
Thank you so much for your support as I continue my journey in the teaching world!
