My students need a listening center to help them become betters readers. My students also need bins to level books so they can find just right books. Manipulatives will help them better grasp new concepts.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are caring, friendly, kind, and always eager to learn. They come from mostly Spanish speaking homes with primarily low income where both parents work full time. 96% of our school is on Free or Reduced lunch plans. I have students who come from rough homes, but you would never tell because of the smile on their faces. Some of my students struggle with reading and writing due to English as a second language, but they are always striving to do better. They loves technology, interactive lessons, Physical Education, and anything that involves science or watching things grow. I am excited to see what the future holds for each of them.
My Project
My first grade students have recently discovered the benefits of healthy and successful habits. If they practice these routines and techniques every day, they will become habits, and help them become better students for the rest of their lives.
The materials for this project will provide my students with a leveled library, books on CDs and a listening center to help students with specific learning needs, and hands on science manipulatives to help them understand the life cycle and the world around them.
Meta-cognition provides students with the tools to think for themselves and find their own way to solve problems. Providing them with a classroom full of various learning tools will help this become a habit for each of them. Building the strong foundation now will allow them to continue their learning and lead to successful adults in the future.
