This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Learning that is not practiced is learning that won’t last! We need your help to get materials to practice our mathematical skills. I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand. ~Chinese Proverb~

My students are a wonderful group of kids that have the energy and attitude to inspire me to contact donors like you to ask for the materials that we need to learn.

All my students are members of minority ethnic groups and receive bilingual education. My students know the importance to come to school, and I am very proud to announce that they achieve high attendance rates period after period. Our campus is denoted as “high poverty”, nevertheless, I consider that my students are a group of very charismatic individuals with high expectations about their future.

My Project

The best learning tools that a teacher can have are those that provide students with the opportunity to practice. Unfortunately I can’t provide my students with all the practice that I wish to give them because of my lack of resources, mostly for being new to the profession. Our project includes materials that will help students to develop their grade level mathematical thinking and reasoning. The manipulative materials included in our project will help us in developing strong mathematical skills related to money, statistics and probability, and numerical fluency. My approach about teaching math is to make it as attractive, fun and real as possible so everyone is interested in learning. Students that develop strong mathematical foundations at an early age, minimize their learning struggles in the future.

Math is a very dynamic subject that demands a variety of instructional tools.

Written repetitions are meaningless without the counterpart of real life experiences. We need materials to make mathematics learning real!
