Hooray! This project is fully funded
I teach a first grade class in Charlotte, North Carolina. In my classroom, I strive to encourage life long learners. In order to do this it is important to give students choices when it is possible.
My students are bright, energetic students that love to learn and move.
In first grade they are establishing their love of math. They love to work with their hands and actually see and talk about their discoveries.
I love to see my students make discoveries and for them to have that moment where they understand and develop a love of learning.
All of my students love to work with math manipulatives to explore and create. They begin to develop and create their own understanding of numbers.
Students in first grade are developing their number awareness.
They need to have math manipulatives and instruction to develop number sense. They need to be able to "see" what the numbers look like to understand and develop number sense.
Number sense is the foundation that all math is based on. Students need to understand numbers to be able to solve problems with numbers. The items in the "ETA hand2mind Daily Math Fluency Kit with Number Strings, Math Talks (Grade 1)" will help to create a firm foundation of number sense and understanding that is needed for understanding math.
