Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

This is the age of technology. It's time to empower our youth with the knowledge and skills they need to survive. This is my fifth year teaching Kindergarten in DC. I love the area and the overwhelming culture. I teach twenty diverse and active students who are primarily from low income families.

Unfortunately, my students don't always get the exposure to technology that they might receive in a private school or from a middle-to-upper class family. That's why I try my best to find ways to get the resources and exposure to better prepare them for competing in the world.

I am requesting four digital cameras. These cameras will be used by the students on a regular basis. They will document activity in the class, outside in nature, on field trips...etc. They will then print the photographs and write about their experiences. This will be a very beneficial and rewarding experience for all.

Please help make this dream of mine a reality. Just picture the five-year-old photographers now and the impact this experience will have on the rest of their lives.
